So join us, and make a difference. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Driving the development of new products to meet customer needs: Drive the design and development of new products which meet customer needs and which aim to give the company sustainable competitive advantage into the future. This covers not only materials and product development but also process development.30% 2. Working with Global Marketing, understand global customer and market requirements: Through face-to-face or focus group reviews, develop a good understanding of customer requirements may involve travel. 20% 3. Provide technical support to the business units and operations. Technical support is provided to the business units and to operations through cost reduction efforts, product testing, competitive product benchmarking, customer visits & presentations, training sessions etc. Support important Operations initiatives like Design for Manufacturing (DFM) etc. 15% 4. Encourage innovation in the R&D group. Keep abreast of all major developments in the field and associated areas to identify suitable materials, processes and technologies for new products. Ensure there is a high level of innovation and creativity in the group. 10% 5. Perform managerial duties as required: These include monthly reports, attending QM review meetings, internal audits, participating in cross-disciplinary meetings such as performance reviews, interview panels, etc. 10% 6. Define NPD plans and objectives: Define the plans and objectives for the New Product Development (NPD) group and ensure they meet company objectives and are in line Global Marketing plans (both annual and strategic). Ensure these plans and objectives are implemented and review performance of associates throughout the year. 5% 7. Prepare annual department budget: Prepare the annual department budget to ensure development plans are adequately resourced and monitor throughout the year. Perform other budgetary duties (mid-year reporting, year-end projections, etc.) as required. 5% 8.
