Product Development Scientist plans, designs, organizes and conducts laboratory experiments and is responsible for the timely completion of data analysis and record keeping, as well as for foreseeing, avoiding and solving problems. Requirements Education and Experience: Degree in chemistry or biology combined with three to five years previous in vitro diagnostic research and development experience is required. Working knowledge of lateral flow- , microfluidic-based and analogous diagnostic devices is essential. Expertise in immunoassays applied to variable biomarkers, especially cardiac proteins, is critical. Quantitative assay development skills are preferable. Competency in protein modification and handling, and conducting experiments with antibodies is necessary. Experience in plastic surface modification is desirable. Good technical writing skills are required; adequate verbal and presentation skills are important. Computer literacy is mandatory, including practical knowledge of Microsoft Office. Sufficient knowledge of relevant statistical techniques is important. Flexibility, creativity, analytical and problem solving abilities are vital.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: - Responsible for compliance with the companys quality system requirements through training and adherence to policies, procedures and processes - Contribute to assigned projects (development, control, analysis) for product development and launch - Perform experiments in the laboratory - Supervise research scientists and research associates, as needed - Compile and analyze data; prepares reports - Develop details of the approach to assignment with consideration of schedule, cost, reliability, simplicity, manufacturing methods and effectiveness - Liaise with internal and external individuals; attend meetings as necessary - As needed, participate in planning and defining new systems, processed and/or methods - As needed, provide product training for employees
