Basic Function and Scope of the Position:Illumina's Translational & Consumer Genomics (TCG) Business Unit serves to revolutionize healthcare using Illumina's genetic tools and services by simplifying the use and interpretation of results for customers.The TCG Product Marketer, in close partnership with TCG Sales, will drive cash inflow for the TCG Business Unit through the articulation and execution of innovative, customer-driven marketing strategies that address product launch through post-sale monitoring. The TCG Product Marketer, in partnership with their TCG Product Management counterpart, will lead development of the TCG solutions portfolio and road map with an external focus on branding, competitive positioning, marketing campaigns and sustaining as market dynamics and customer needs change and must be continuously evaluated and addressed.Cooperation with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Support departments is expected to ensure products are manufactured consistent with demand, meet the highest standards and quality, and are serviced consistent with the campaign.The TCG Product Marketer will have an entrepreneurial spirit, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a unique combination of technical experience, translational market knowledge, and business acumen to lead innovative, impactful Marketing concepts that establish Illumina at the forefront of translational genomics. Tasks and Responsibilities:Co-own the TCG Marketing Plan with counterpart in TCG Product Management including customer segmentation analysis, SWOT analysis, pricing recommendations, etc. Identify and define new product solutions and customer segments, and lead internal business case justification around TCG portfolio based on value propositions, competitive positioning, most desirable product attributes and trade-offs, pricing and sales forecasts. Develop TCG brand portfolios based on the Business Unit's objectives and strategies. Create market campaign strategies with high impact that comply by laws, Company policy and taste of target market.Manage TCG product gross margins and revenue targets with Sales Department.Participate in field-based trade shows, strategic sales calls, and customer engagement. Own market forecasts for all TCG products and communicate such to Manufacturing, Customer Solutions, and other relevant members of Commercial team.Manage the product life cycle, including of product inventory, improvements, new applications, and product obsolescence.Work with Technical Writing staff on marketing literature, web content, support literature, etc.Lead the TCG team to plan and execute all new product launches, including preparation of training materials, collateral, product ordering process, technical information, sales presentations, etc.Work with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Software Applications, Customer Solutions and Supply Chain to ensure product/support fit with TCG market needs, establish target and final product specifications, lead change management initiative, serve as the expert on customer behaviors, needs and responses to programs in the specific business areas.All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Preferred Educational Background:Bachelors, Masters or PhD in genetics, molecular genetics, molecular biology, or equivalent is required. Experience in translational/clinical Marketing required.MBA is desirable. Sales experience desirable.Preferred Experiential Background:5+ years product management and/or marketing experience in the translational/clinical field. Hands-on experience with genomic analysis products (next-generation sequencing preferred) is a plus.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals or other related materials. Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or the scientific community. Experience developing and implementing successful marketing plans in translational/clinical space.Proven track-record of strong performance in interacting with customers and various internal organizations.Ability to understand, synthesize and present unmet customer needs for the development of market strategies and programs.Exceptional communications skills - with a proven ability to influence at all levels across an organization.Strong initiative, problem-solving ability and sense of ownership when driving projects to completion.Must be able to think creatively and to implement effectively.Team player with proven ability to work in a highly matrixed environment and to lead successful teams and projects.Requires the ability to work as a member of a multifunctional team, strong communication and organizational skills and planning ability.Must embrace change, be a self-motivated, and flourish in a start-up-like environment.Equal Opportunity Employer / Affirmative Action Employer Requirements See Above
