Job Description:  Purpose & Scope of positionThe Sr. Director, ID Franchise Group Leader, is the leading role in the assigned franchise. The ID Franchise Group Leader will be responsible for developing the initial global commercial objectives and strategy for inline and pipeline products within Astellas' assigned portfolio. This will include overseeing early stage commercial plan development, global brand development (positioning, branding, input into forecasting, communication strategy), pre-launch and market access planning, pre/post-launch life cycle strategies, and emerging markets resource planning for the assigned franchise of products. The ID Franchise Group Leader is responsible for ensuring that the regional affiliates have the strategic support required to maximize long term growth and success of products.The ID Franchise Group Leader will be highly engaged with Sr. Management in providing necessary solutions for the commercial development of the franchise portfolio and long-term therapeutic area strategy. This position will oversee multidisciplinary teams charged with making strategic decisions with opportunity assessment, and providing commercial insights and recommendations for products in early stages of clinical development (starting at P1). This position will be required to collaborate closely with APGD GDPLs, GMA MDs, and Regional NPP and Marketing leadership.Essential Job Responsibilities* Establish the global strategic direction and integrate plans for all assigned franchise products, ensuring alignment with broader TA strategy, and corporate mid / long-term objectives.* Oversee and approve all strategic plans (brand plans, MTP, etc) for assigned franchise products and presentations to upper management.* Analyze brand / products needs within assigned franchise and ensure sound strategic commercialization (and broader Life Cycle Management) plans are in place and effectively executed for all pipeline products* Ensure efficient and synergistic execution of all global franchise related pre-launch and strategic post-launch commercial activities* Provide global commercial leadership and key insights, and develop materials required to support management committee discussions & decisions for pipeline staging decisions, and in-licensing evaluations.* Manage staff responsible for pre-launch activities, franchise strategy, Life Cycle Management (LCM), post-launch strategic operations and emerging markets commercial support.* Supervise daily activities of direct reports, oversee staff development and succession planning* Oversee all franchise related Global Brand Teams (GBT), and exercise leadership to optimize GBT activities.* Actively collaborate with and engage APGD GDPLs, GMA Medical Directors, Regional Marketing Sr. Directors/Directors, and Corporate functions (Marketing Intelligence, Scientific Intelligence, Supply Chain Management, External Relations) to maximize the value of assigned franchise assets.* Participate in company operating committees (STAR member, ad hoc member) and represent Astellas commercial teams in global Alliances / Partnerships

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree required MBA preferred.* This level requires 12 years of marketing related, relevant experience (marketing, sales, market research, marketing operations, finance, forecasting, etc.) and/or equivalent education/experience.* Recognizes complex situations and uses multiple formal and informal methods to find solutions, including the ability to make independent assessments and decisions.* Experience with brand management, ideally with global product launches and global product development.* Demonstrate command of the principles and practices related to marketing on a worldwide scale.* Demonstrated experience in building and managing strong teams with technical competencies, leadership skills to develop talent manage department budgets and oversee global vendor agreements.* Strategic thinker with ability to develop and execute pre and post launch lifecycle product plans.* Ability to establish credibility and influence at senior levels and drive cross-functional efforts both formally and informally.* Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence others with perseverance as well as a talent for leveraging the capabilities of peer.* Demonstrated track record of defining and launching successful products.* Strong cultural awareness and adept at leading and working cross functionally with a broad range of stakeholders, business partners and associates.* Demonstrated expertise in global marketing and optimizing commercial strategies by integrating global insights.* An understanding of the global reimbursement environment and drivers for value based access, and how to integrate into the development and commercial strategies.* Track record of contributions to the strategic planning process, ideally at both a category and brand level.* Experience in emerging consumer class markets or other emerging economies will be highly preferred.* Fluent in written and verbal business English.Travel RequirementsApproximately 30% - 40% of domestic and international travel will be required to attend important meetings. Travel may be outside of normal working hours and over weekends.
