Job Description:  Cubist Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: CBST) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the research, development and commercialization of pharmaceutical products that address unmet medical needs in the acute care environment. Founded in 1992, Cubist is headquartered in Lexington, MA.

Position Summary:

The Director, Corporate Media Relations will work with the senior leadership team to develop and execute strategic plans to maximize the effectiveness of the corporate communications function in support of the companys long-term objectives and vision. In addition, the right candidate will act as an integrator and ensure corporate milestones, media relations, messaging, and major communications channels are consistent and well-organized. The position will report to the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs.

- Partners with CEO and senior leadership team to ensure corporate vision/goals and milestones are well communicated externally
- Leads media relations/spokesman efforts on major corporate events, including business development, M&A, finance/earnings, legal, crisis communications, and human resources, in collaboration with G&A functions; significant direct contact with media
- Oversees and generates diverse content for multimedia delivery, to include press releases, Q&As, annual reports, website, social media tools, and ad campaigns;
- In collaboration with Investor Relations, oversees production of investor presentations and Q&As
- Develops and executes executive communications platform, including preparation of remarks/presentations
- As appropriate, assists in the planning, development, and execution of communications initiatives outside of the U.S. that serve both company and local market needs
- Ability/willingness to take on additional responsibilities/special projects
- Measures success of key initiatives
- Oversees agencies and consultants

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Liberal Arts or Business
- 10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications
- 5 years managing functional area of expertise
- Fluent in print, electronic, and digital media production
- Strengths with MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

- 10-15 years of progressive media relations in a high growth, public global company
- 5-10 years managing functional area of expertise
- Extensive knowledge of biopharmaceutical and healthcare industry, including emerging trends over next five years
- Demonstrated leadership skills and proven track record of successfully developing and executing plans/large scale projects
- Builds strong bond with internal partners, including senior leadership and Public Affairs team
- Career accomplishments of working on global projects; understanding/sensitivity to different cultures
- Professional confidence to work closely with CEO and executive team
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure; responsive to needs of reporters
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation; highly polished, mature, and articulate
- Familiarity with and/or ability to excel in Sharepoint and social/digital media tools
