Job Description:  Basic Responsibilities Drives sequencing software products sales through customer success and satisfaction. Evaluates, develops and supports protocols/workflows, methods and customer support materials for sequencing based applications. Serves as liaison between Product Management, R&D, Validation and Verification, Marketing and both field applications and technical support groups. Acts as escalation point for Field-based support. Creates and tests strategies for effective product line demonstrations. Gathers information about technical trends to support development and sales strategies for current and future products. Job Duties1. Sequencing product application specialist to provide technical marketing material such as product application notes, user guides, generate data to show proof claims and support application notes on promotional material. Will perform some bench work in support of sequencing products. 2. Provides materials, training and in-house subject matter expertise. Develops documentation and support for field-based support to answer customer application/software questions. Develops materials and trains support staff on products. Provides telephone support to field-based support staff. Responds to technical calls that escalate to product management3. Develops and communicates methodologies for completing customer demonstrations. Understands customer needs, has an understanding of technology, a thorough knowledge of the demonstration goals and enables the field to articulate and achieve those goals. 4. Test site support for products in development. Voice of the customer duringproduct development meetings, protocol refinement and improvement as necessary. Able to write product protocol documents. 5. At a specification level, ensure integrity and competitiveness of new and current product specifications. 6. Proactive communication (written and oral) about products during commercialization, including collaborating or developing promotional literature at product launch in alignment with Product Management and World Wide Marketing Programs and Communication. 7. Provides the first step in the quality feedback process by evaluating and managing the troubleshooting process with customers. Will be a resource for technical support and provide a higher level of support than tech support by having a thorough knowledge of the product. Evaluates customer product performance issues (interacts with the customer, obtains sample and project files and evaluates internally, etc. ) and communicates internally on this evaluation to quality team meetings to determine defect and future feature requests. 8. Conducts in-house and fieldwork on customer samples in highly competitive situations. 9. Worldwide travel required. 10% to 20%. Travel includes customer visits, conference attendances, and meeting with regional sales, support and marketing teams.

Requirements

SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience with use of automated genetic analyzers and analysis software for the use of sequencing or mutation detection. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education: Requires knowledge and skills normally acquired through thesuccessful completion of a Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology or related degree. Advanced degree desirable but not. Requires a minimum of 2 years of previous laboratory experience, preferably in a Core, Genotyping, Genetic Testing or Molecular Biology Lab.Experience that includes presenting and documenting technical materials such as posters, seminars and technical papers is highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Proficiency in sequencing software use and experience with GenBank, NCBI or other sequence data repositories is a plus.
