The Director, Product Engineering leads a matrixed team responsible for design related changes to products on the market for improving quality, cost manufacturability and functionality.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors product performance in the field in conjunction with the Site Engineering team in San Jose, California and the quality team to ensure that all quality related issues are addressed promptly. Leads the effort, in conjunction with the Site Engineering team in San Jose, Global Marketing and Corporate Development, Manufacturing operations and Quality to define a portfolio of projects that optimize on-market product for quality, cost, functionality and manufacturability.

Executes those projects that require design changes from the portfolio above with a matrix organization. Responsible for the technical review of all other projects for potential design impact. Ensures constant and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 15 years of experience in class 2/3 medical device product development of complex electromechanical products with at least 5 years in leadership roles. Previous experience in on-market support of complex, electro-mechanical devices with associated consumables and embedded software is strongly preferred.Proven ability to collaborate across functional boundaries.Ability to lead the solution of challenging quality / manufacturing issues under time / regulatory pressure and the design constraints of the on-market product.

Ability to lead the development of an optimal portfolio of projects given resource constraints and the multiple needs of the different constituencies.

Exceptional analytical ability to problem solve key issues and also to analyze the various potential projects and their impact to develop the optimal portfolio. Masters Degree Required.
