The Senior Product Applications Specialist is responsible for providing a broad range of support for product development projects, troubleshooting and pre-sales and post-sales activities for products involved in QA/QC testing in pharmaceutical manufacturing. These products include MicroSEQ microbial ID, real-time PCR based detection of Mycoplasma, Mouse Minute Virus and Vesivirus and real-time PCR based quantitation of host cell DNA and Protein A from cells used in Biopharma manufacturing. Primary responsibilities include:Design and perform experiments for troubleshooting, competitive benchmarking, internal validation and applications data generation for brochures and bulletinsDevelop and conduct training programs for field organization Act as technical resource for the world wide field application specialist teams by providing support during pre-sales and post-sales activities Partner with product management to gather customer information about technical trends/needs to support development of selling strategies and future products Participate on product development teams as the technical expert and provide feedback on customer requirements, product design and user manuals Skills and Knowledge RequirementsStrong technical and significant laboratory and/or scientific background Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills Effective writing and communication skills to clearly articulate technical and product information to both internal and external customers Strong organization and time-management skills to be able to independently manage multiple and sometimes changing priorities Technical knowledge in microbiology, PCR, DNA sequencing, Real-Time PCR, chromatographic or electrophoretic separation for the analysis and purification of nucleic acids. In-depth Pharmaceutical industry QA/QC or Microbiology knowledge a plus Strongly prefer experience with either Applied Biosystems DNA sequencing instrumentation or Real-Time PCR instrumentation. Requires knowledge and skills normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree (B. A. /B. S. ) in Molecular Biology or Microbiology or related degree. Advanced degree desirable. Requires a minimum of 5-7 years of previous laboratory experience.
