Job Description:  Scientist I, ProductionMadison, WI Second shift ( Sunday 8 pm
- 12 am and Mon -Thurs 3 pm
- 1 am ). Hours may change based on business requirements. The Scientist I will perform high throughput biochemical screening assays using a variety of platform technologies to characterize new chemical entities in our Screening and Profiling Team. This position will work as part of a second shift night team to deliver critical data to customers requiring following detailed protocols as well as the collection of screening data. Essential Functions:Use of basic laboratory skills in biochemistry or a related field to run high throughput screening (HTS) assays with a basic understanding of processes. Run screening projects in the laboratory, perform basic data analysis and generate reports using templates and software programs built for the service. Utilize liquid handling automation and detection instruments to complete screening projects in the laboratory under guidance from lead scientist. Able to identify potential problems in screening assays and provide ideas to lead scientist for solutions to simple technical problems. Able to run routine screening projects with general instruction provided by lead night scientist and day supervisor and follow new detailed instructions when changes are made to the process in order to achieve technical results and high quality data. Respond to changing priorities and handle conducting multiple projects with overlapping deadlines. Comply with all company safety regulations and procedures. May require sitting at the bench or standing for long periods of time in the laboratory (> 4-6 hours) to conduct and complete projects. May require lifting upwards of 40 lbs. Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. Nature and Scope:Position exercises judgment within defined practices and policies for obtaining results. Perform duties with general direction by lead night scientist and day supervisor and work closely as a team to complete projects. Understand the importance of the position toward Company's objectives. Job encounters recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm, involving a moderate to high degree of complexity. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position. Mistakes in work could cause substantial data errors. Education:Requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related discipline, or the equivalent knowledge and experience.

Requirements

Experience:Requires a Bachelor's Degree with 0 to 2 years laboratory experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.A self-motivated individual that can function both independently as well as part of a team is required. The individual should have a keen sense of urgency to get the job done, excellent lab hands, and be flexible to rapid changes in priorities. Research project experience through education. Working Conditions:Works in a laboratory environment involving automation, and computer analysis. This position does not offer relocation.EOE
