Job Description:  The Senior Product Manager/Director of Clinical Product Management works closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Product development, business development/channels, customers, sales, application scientists and other marketing functional groups. This position will be responsible for Product Management for Clinical-related products and related strategies. This is an individual contributor role with no personnel management responsibilities initially. This position reports to the Senior Director of Product Management.

Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing and Product Management:

Perform market analysis and develop and implement strategy for entry into clinical markets. This includes opportunity identification and characterization, determination of target customer profiles, and working with product development on product strategy and with sales on target customers and early market adoption plans. This would be done in close coordination with the Clinical Market Development Director.
Define and manage evolving portfolio of clinical service offerings, including playing key role on relevant core teams, etc.
Develops Go-to-Market (GTM) plans, strategic initiatives and content that drive business results, with the ultimate goal of rapid market acceptance, sales success and leading market share.
Keep abreast of clinical market and technical trends, competitor products and strategies and customer requirements to determine competitive positioning, adjust product roadmap based on this information.
Provide a central focus for information and direction concerning the vision and strategy of clinical service and application offerings.

Technical Marketing:

In conjunction with Product Marketing, contributes to the development of technical solution positioning, messaging, whitepapers, collateral, sales tools, value drivers, benefits, and competitive differentiation for clinical portfolio.
Provides clinical-oriented technical expertise to customers and prospects, sales, support, and product management teams
Develop content for technical sales tools that support the selling process of Complete Genomics clinical products and ensure that the sales team has thorough knowledge of the product and can effectively overcome objections made by the competition
Ensure that clinical products are properly positioned relative to research products by working closely with relevant product marketing team members.
Regulatory Policy and Standards
Understand current and impending regulatory policies on global basis with respect to their impact our Complete Genomics clinical strategies.
Where appropriate, participate in standard and policy setting groups and activities. This includes implementation of company strategy related to standard setting efforts and our involvement in such activities.
Keep executive management and CMO abreast of regulatory policy changes and landscape

Requirements

At least 6-8 (Sr PM) or 8-10 years (Director) of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing or related Marketing role in life sciences, diagnostic, or other clinical product area or company.
Experience marketing or managing products and/or businesses in the clinical, regulated, or molecular diagnostic market segments.
B.S. in relevant scientific discipline such as genetics, molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, general biology, or similar field.
Ph.D and/or MBA is highly desirable.
Extensive experience interacting with a variety of types of customers, including thought leaders and highly influential, prominent scientists, investigators and decision makers.
Experience with DNA sequencing or related technologies or products.
Knowledge of the DNA sequencing market and/or related market segments.
Knowledge of genomic applications and the use of sequencing in a variety of applications, including clinical uses and medical genomics.
Although not applicable initially, experience managing people is also highly desirable.
Experience marketing or selling services in the life sciences and/or molecular diagnostic fields.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
