Communications Manager - Bio-Medicines - Fixed Duration Employee

The Lilly Bio-Medicines Communications Manager will be responsible for co-creation, development and implementation of a global communications strategy for Lilly Bio-Medicines product brands. This includes using a variety of communication levers both external and internal to help Lilly Bio-Medicines achieve its goals. The manager will report to the Lilly Bio-Medicines Communications Director and will operate cross functionally with marketing as well as with other communications colleagues including, but not limited to, Corporate Communications, Employee Communications, Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs contacts in Lilly affiliates around the world.

This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of 3 years.



KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:


Co-develop and implement a global communications strategy and tactics for Lilly Bio-Medicines brands.

Provide external media training and communications counsel and coaching to internal business partners

Manage day-to-day public relations activities supporting Lilly Bio-Medicines brands, including direction of PR agencies

Anticipate, prioritize and prepare to manage possible negative issues in the media

Develop and edit communications for media use such as press releases, internal Q&As, fact sheets and other media materials.

Help develop and implement an employee communications strategy that creates broad organizational understanding about Lilly Bio-Medicines strategy and vision.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelors Degree, with a minimum of seven years of media, communications and/or public relations experience

Demonstrated experience in the development and execution of strategic and creative communication plans/events

Strong background in media relations, including interacting with A-list media and serving as a spokesperson

Experience working with cross-functional teams

Prior PR agency management experience

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES:


Demonstrated leadership and influence with business customers

Strong project management skills

Very strong communications skills -- written and verbal, as well as interpersonal

Demonstrated success as a team player

Ability to manage issues and crises and stay calm under stress


Experience working with alliance partners.

Experience in executive communications/speechwriting


OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:


International and domestic travel required
