Provide second level bioinformatics and software support to our country organizations worldwide, prepare and conduct trainings, and maintain technical documentation.
To achieve these tasks successfully, close contact with domain experts in Ramp;D is necessary.
* Systematically analyze and document problems in the field and investigate their root cause. Design, manage and implement solutions or interim countermeasures and workarounds for our affiliates around the world.
* Accept and investigate requests from the affiliates, in close contact with specialists from Ramp;D, Quality and Marketing
* Prepare and maintain training materials amp; resources
* Perform internal evaluations of the 454 proprietary software
* Maintain regular contact with worldwide affiliates and perform training both onsite and offsite
* Life cycle management of service and product documentation
* Gather information and establish extensive knowledge about the software developed by 454 Life Sciences Requirements * B.S. or M.S. in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, genetics, molecular biology, or related discipline
* Expert level proficiency in perl, bash, and the use of linux command-line tools
* Experience in comparative genomics, genome assembly, genotyping, or other computational applications of sequencing data
* Knowledge of widely used genomics tools and biological sequence databases
* Knowledge of linux system administration and cluster software is a plus
* Must be self-motivated, highly detail-oriented and organized and capable of working independently with minimal supervision in a very dynamic environment
* Ability to write technical texts in a concise and clearly structured style
* Good communication skills and intercultural experience
* Must be willing and able to travel to approx. 5-10% of the time
