Director of Marketing -- Bedford Labs Bedford Labs a division of Ben Venue Laboratories is currently seeking a talented and innovative DIRECTOR OF MARKETING located at our Bedford, OH site. As a DIRECTOR OF MARKETING you will be a key member of the Bedford leadership team and critical to driving Bedford's growth. The Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and directing the business strategy for all launched Bedford products. This includes setting product direction to achieve increasing market share and overall revenue growth, customer retention tools and overall profitability. Specific responsibilities include product-line strategy development; communication of this strategy across the Division; driving short term business results and long term profitable growth; strategic direction for promotions, advertising, and media relations; coordination with sales management, customer operations, Bedford Labs operations, regulatory affairs, product & process development and quality operations; hiring and directing the day to day activities of marketing staff; generates forecasts and develops and maintains strategies for product pricing to maximize Bedford's market share and profit and loss position.
Bedford Laboratories was established in 1993 as a division of Ben Venue Laboratories to sell and market its own generic drug products. In 1997, Boehringer Ingelheim acquired the company when it purchased Ben Venue Laboratories. Responsibilities:
Develops and implements overall product launch strategies. Manages transition from Pipeline Management team to Marketing - Launched product team, beginning with validation preparation through to launch. Monitors and expedites milestones and timelines for completion of launch preparation activities for all Bedford pipeline products. Provides product training and support to the field sales force. Member of the Product Selection Committee (PSC) and Generic Product Committee (GPC), representing in market commercial aspects into the portfolio design processes. Manages all promotional aspects of Bedford as a Division and its products, including advertising, convention booth, sales material, etc. Identifies new sku opportunities to strengthen product families and feeds those opportunities into Product Selection process. Manages and works with Pharmacist Advisory Council and Sales team to ascertain viability of product opportunities. Develops and Implements Pricing Strategy for all products in collaboration with Business Analysis, regularly reviewing competitive pricing strategies and providing recommendations to Sales Directors. Develops, monitors and updates forecasts on a product by product basis for the current-year budget and the five-year plan. Provides rolling quarterly forecasts to production and planning to ensure adequate inventories. Actively interfaces with Customer Service and Sales to determine supply situation, demand and commercial priorities for manufacturing. Sets up performance standards and a tracking system for each product in the portfolio that will help ensure the success of the product, the portfolio and Bedford. Monitors competitor activities and develops systematic tracking system with Business Analysis group, including competitive pricing, competitive sku's, marketing activities, award status, etc. Manages team of product managers to fulfill department tasks. Manages performance of those managers and implements, Annual Objective Plans (MAX Plan), Development & Training Plans for those managers. Meets all timelines for launch of new products, e.g. Product launch packets, wholesaler preparation, forecasts into operations, publication advertising, etc. Successful & timely implementation of post-launch marketing activities, e.g. advertising, web site updates, formulary packages, etc. Timely notifications of inventory issues related to recently launched products Number of product sku opportunities identified per year Monthly pricing reports on time and accurate % alignment of Current Year, Rolling Operations Forecast and five-year budget numbers versus respective actual numbers. 100% comprehensive forecasting assumptions formally documented (e.g pricing, market share, competition, GPO awards, etc) Timeliness and accuracy of Monthly Performance report for Legacy products -- (sales performance vs plan, profitability, pricing vs plan, market share interpretations, competitive assumptions, etc) Timeliness and accuracy of annual AE benchmarking & territory report Adherence to deadlines for employee MAXX and Development plans, or other documents, as defined by HR Requirements Qualifications: Requirements:
Minimum education required for this position is a Bachelor's degree. Advanced Science degree or MBA is desirable. Minimum 8 years of product/marketing management in the hospital pharmaceutical area. At least 5 years of career experience in the generic market, generic injectables a plus. Hospital pharmaceutical sales experience a plus. Thorough knowledge of Wholesalers, Group Purchasing Organizations and the hospital market, is required. An understanding of the regulatory requirements for ANDA, AADA and NDA fillings with the FDA. Superior oral and written communication skills required. Strong group presentation skills are necessary. Good working knowledge of MS Office particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Project Management experience and experience working with project management software programs, required.
