The Senior Product Manager for Informatics will be responsible for ensuring that Illumina's sequencing and microarray customers live in a world rich in analysis and data management resources. This individual will work with Illumina's software engineering teams as well as with Illumina's business partners in the IT infrastructure, commercial bioinformatics, and open source communities to supply end-to-end solutions to the ever-changing genomics marketplace. To be successful, this individual will need to tap into a broad knowledge-base that spans software and IT development processes, molecular biology, partner management, and business case analysis.The successful candidate will be required to: Work with Illumina's analysis and IT business partners to build business relationships and agreements that will enable Illumina to meet its financial and strategic goalsProduce comprehensive marketing requirements for the new and evolving data analysis and data management applicationsWork closely with a team of product marketers, application scientists and thought leading customers to determine which tools are best suited for inclusion in new commercial software applicationsIdentify new and emerging technologies with the ability shorten the time and lower the cost of going from experimental data to meaningful resultsProvide messaging and collateral to positively differentiate Illumina's informatics portfolio from those of our competitorsEducation and Experience:A degree in life science, mathematics, or computer science (Ph.D. or M.S.) is highly desiredMust have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a bioinformatics product management, business development, or another life-science product management roleMust have experience defining product requirements and working with R&D to ensure development of products based on customer and business requirementsMust have proven track-record of outstanding performance in interacting with customers and various internal organizationsMust have extensive knowledge of computer platforms and commercially available informatics applicationsSuccessful candidates will have solid background in statistics and its application to bioinformatics problemsDirect experience working with an international (multi-location) R&D organization is highly desired Requirements See Above
