Job Description: 

"Baxters BioScience division is a leading producer of both plasma-based and recombinant clotting factors for hemophilia, as well as biopharmaceuticals used to treat immune deficiencies, alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency and other blood-related disorders. Baxter also produces vaccines for the prevention of infectious diseases, as well as biosurgery products used for hemostasis and tissue-sealing in surgery. Baxter BioScience's breadth and depth of expertise in recombinant protein manufacturing, plasma fractionation and proprietary Vero-cell vaccine manufacturing technologies set it apart from other companies in these fields."

The Group Market Manager (GMM) will work closely with, and report to, the Sr. Director of Global Marketing, Hemostasis & Fibrin Sealants within the BioSurgery group at Baxter BioScience. The GMMs primary responsibility will be the development of global-level medical marketing strategies for the portfolio of products in the hemostasis and fibrin sealants group, as well as initiatives and programs that support their implementation.

Specifically, the GMM will focus on Key Opinion Leader (KOL) mapout, development and management on a global basis. This would entail identification of global KOLs across the following surgical specialties: cardiovascular, neuro, spine, orthopaedic, general. The GMM will work with the global, regional and marketing teams, with the help of medical affairs and clinical development groups and, if necessary, third-party organizations to identify global KOLs based on pre-determined and agreed-upon criteria. The ultimate selection of KOLs will need to be fully validated by both internal and external experts. The goal is to develop Baxter BioSurgery advocates, identify and develop rising stars among surgeons.

The GMM will then structure a strategic approach to KOL management and advocacy development. Programs and initiatives to support the strategic approach may include international advisory board planning and execution, speaker bureau development and implementation, peer-to-peer programming facilitation and leadership, educational and promotional congress satellite symposia planning and execution, involvement of KOLs into research and publication activities as appropriate, PR training of KOLs as Baxter BioSurgery spokespersons.

In addition, the GMM will be responsible for global medical education planning and program execution, working with CME companies based in the US and overseas. The GMM will be responsible for commercial strategic input into publication and Phase IV study planning, research and educational grants as required within the regulatory and legal frameworks. The GMM will work closely with other marketers on the BioSurgery team, as well as medical affairs colleagues, and share responsibilities in congress and event planning and implementation. Close cooperation with regional and country marketing organizations will be required. All the elements of GMMs responsibility will contribute directly to the planning and execution of global strategic marketing for Baxter BioSurgery brands.

Requirements

Minimum 6-8 years of Pharma or Biotech industry experience, with at least 5 years of relevant marketing experience, which may include a combination of sales, product management, brand management, strategic or new product marketing, opinion leader management, medical marketing. Previous experience with surgeon education or strategic KOL management is a requirement with the candidates applying for the position. Previous work experience in the surgical field within a medical device or biotechnology industry is highly desirable. The position will require strong facilitation and communication skills, including ability to communicate with top-level surgeons on a highly technical level, as well as across functional groups within Baxter, including communication with the senior management team. The candidate needs to have excellent organizational, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Life Sciences BS or BA, MBA or post-graduate degree in related field preferred.
