Product Development Director, Summary:The Director will be responsible for leading the product management team for new Bioinformatics Software Development. This position reports to the Vice President, Genetic Systems Product Management and can be based in Foster City, CA, Carlsbad, CA. Essential Functions: Execute and focus on driving a unified operating system to support existing Solid Customers. Develop a strategic roadmap for content acquisition and third party partnerships to deliver best in class software for the next generation sequencing bioinformatics landscape Collaborate closely with FAS and customer support team to ensure seamless operation of next generation sequencing software with the Solid Installed base. Conduct Business Development negotiations and strategic planning to acquire privileged assets and capabilities to drive next generation sequencing capabilities into clinical environments. Work closely with collaborations and market development team to expand existing partnerships with translational research institutions to develop software that enables next generation sequencing to be used in molecular medicine. Collaborate closely with the VP of Bioinformatics to develop the product roadmap and support Bioinformatics team. This highly visible role will have responsibility for the commercial success of new Bioinformatics software products for next generation sequencing technologies Understanding target customers and applications. Product definition. Product management deliverables during development period. Multi-year product roadmap. Business planning including pricing, positioning, and other marketing and sales strategies. Multi-year business plan and forecasting. Setting up and executing pre-launch customer collaborations. Selecting and managing strategic partnerships. Product launch. Product line P&L including revenue, expense, and margin responsibility for product line. Facilitating interactions between R&D, field, market development, operations, key customers, strategic partners, etc. Periodic report out to corporate executive leaders. An ability to communicate prolifically between the many program constituents is essential, including the ability to manage work at multiple sites. The Director will be a tireless champion of the Bioinformatics products both internally and externally. Education & Experience:Ten years of experience with a minimum of three years in a leadership role. Experience of large scale genomics systems preferred.
