Job Description:

Viread (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate), the companys first agent approved for HIV infection, was also approved in 2008 for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Chronic hepatitis B, a serious liver disease caused by the hepatitis B virus, is the leading cause of liver cancer worldwide and affects an estimated two million individuals in the United States. Most recently, Cayston (aztreonam for inhalation solution) was granted approval in February 2010 to be used to improve respiratory symptoms in cystic fibrosis patients.

Specific Responsibilities:
The Manager/Senior Manager, Marketing Operations will help to ensure the successful operations of the Letairis Education and Access Program (LEAP) a closed distribution REMS program for Letairis which is indicated for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Essential Duties and Job Functions: Additionally the candidate will support the Cayston Access Program a reimbursement call center that supports patients, healthcare providers and participating specialty pharmacies obtain appropriate access to Cayston and the Altera Nebulizer System for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). The successful candidate is a high performing individual contributor who will manage relationships with identified external and internal partners and participate in cross-functional teams across the Gilead organization. The position would be responsible for the following:

Implements operational strategies and plans for LEAP and the Cayston Access Program.

Key contributor to the cross-functional team responsible for ensuring adherence to FDA mandated REMS requirements while providing exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers. Cross functional team membership includes dedicated support within Regulatory Affairs along with members from Information Technology, Analytics and Reporting, Business Operations and Contract Compliance, National Accounts, Sales and Marketing, Drug Safety, Medical Affairs, and Corporate Legal Affairs.

Manages external vendor relationships, contracts, and performance related to the LEAP and Cayston call centers and certified specialty pharmacies to ensure compliance with program requirements and exceptional customer service.

Serves as the primary interface between marketing operations and the sales force regarding LEAP and Cayston Access Program customer service issues. Responds to questions, troubleshoots issues and identifies opportunities for process improvements.

Analyzes highly complex problems and situations, provides logical recommendations, and implements any required action planning. Sets priorities in circumstances of continued complex and conflicting requirements.

Establishes effective working relationships with key opinion leaders locally and nationally to ensure continuous quality improvement of all identified programs.

Ensures monitoring systems are in place and being effectively managed in order to evaluate program effectiveness.

Provides strategic input and develops marketing operations content for sales training and national accounts training materials.

Works closely with Information Technology and the data reporting groups to ensure systems associated with programs and partners are aligned with marketing operations, regulatory and overall commercial business objectives.

Manages program operating budgets and oversees expense management processes related to implementation.

Works in conjunction with Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and Legal to ensure approvals of and effective communication with the U.S. sales and marketing team on program operations and program materials.

Utilizes high level of business acumen in analyzing and coordinating activities from identified industry trends, competitors resources and practices.

Requirements

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
8+ years of experience and a Bachelors degree preferably in the sciences, public health, or business related discipline. MBA strongly preferred.
5+ of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Familiarity with cardiopulmonary, respiratory markets or specialty pharmaceutical product segments is preferred.
Exceptional written, verbal communication and presentation skills are required in order to provide clear and concise analysis of quantitative and qualitative concepts.
Experience leading complex program implementations that require process and software development, data integration and ongoing quality improvement.
Proven project management abilities and experience leading or participating in large cross-functional teams.
Experience with insurance reimbursement for specialty pharmaceutical products and medical devices.
Experience managing customer facing vendors.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Is familiar with industry trends and remains current with competitors resources and practices.
Knowledge and understanding of the functions and inner workings of REMS programs and specialty pharmaceutical distribution systems is preferred.
Must be able to balance both the tactical and strategic aspects of the role.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point is required.
May require up to 25% travel based on business need.
