Reports To: VP Business Development
Key Responsibilities include: - Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies and appropriate tactics to build the UBC brand in the life sciences industry (biopharmaceutical, medical device companies, CROs, academic institutions, regulatory authorities) and within relevant segments of the financial sector/investors; - Manage all aspects of UBCs externally-facing media, including company website(s), appropriate social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc), printed promotional materials, print and web advertising, public relations, conferences, and executive communications; - Support internal communications initiatives. Manage development and implementation of enhanced intranet resource for internal communications; partner with SVP of Human Resources to ensure effective communications and to build a strong UBC identity and culture; - Partner with UBC leaders to ensure marketing and communications strategies and tactics support the companys business objectives; partner with marketing and communications colleagues within each of UBCs operating units to ensure brand consistency and efficiency; - Translate the UBC business strategy into key messages; manage the dissemination of information throughout the organization; - Develop and communicate content and associated projects that promote a strong UBC culture and community, provide timely information and access to key resources. Create/manage and post editorial content, monitor site for content or technology issues, ensure alignment with business needs and objectives; - Develop and implement a continuous stream of appropriate content/programming for UBCNet, the companys intranet resource. Interface with UBC information technology leadership to maximize and acceleration information distribution and to ensure the company is using the best available technology to accomplish business needs. Partner with UBC leaders and other colleagues to support key initiatives, providing writing and project specific support for company-wide messaging and plans; - Create and implement appropriate metrics to evaluate external marketing and communications initiatives as well as internal communications to measure performance against strategy and goals; - Provide executive communications support to UBC leadership, including writing speeches, talking points, video scripts, articles, memos and announcements for a variety of internal and external events and publications. Develop slides and speaking notes for internal presentations/leadership meetings. Trade Show Management & Logistics - Manage logistics associated with conferences and webinars including: ad development with advertising agency, development and implementation of e-blast promotions, registrations, abstract submissions, hotel and catering needs, shipping, internal communications and organization, booth and collateral needs and post-conference follow-up - Develop and manage an annual marketing plan and budget for the Late Stage Operations and Biometrics & Regulatory Affairs teams, including planned conferences, webinars, direct marketing e-mail blasts, article development/placement and new collateral estimations - Research industry conferences and negotiate sponsorship contracts to ensure best price and branding opportunities for UBC - Work with UBC scientists and leadership to determine best messages/goals for UBC Late Stage and work to ensure that all marketing communications are consistent with UBC goals approved branding - Work closely with appropriate UBC resources to develop copy for new promotional collateral and coordinate with ad agency to approve layout and art design - Ensure that UBC website is up-to-date with new services, resources and publications - Help to coordinate annual Sales/Business Development meeting including: agenda/workshop development, meeting logistics, catering and on-site support - Collaborate with Corporate office to lead UBCs branding and overall event planning for 2 major conference events Business Development Support - Work with Sales to support messages needed for strategic proposals, customer messaging and bid defenses - Support sales campaigns (strategic ideas around key targets, rationale, collection of names, deployment of message, track follow-up and impact) - Communicate market issues to Senior leadership so UBC can make meaningful use of information, and integrate into the selling process Requirements - Bachelor's degree (BA/BS); MBA with a concentration in marketing or an advanced degree in communications preferred - 7-10 years experience in marketing/communications in positions of increasing responsibility (life sciences industry preferred) - Knowledge of biopharmaceutical and medical device sectors as well as contract research services (clinical development, outsourced R&D services, commercialization of medical products); extensive understanding of the discovery, development, and commercialization process for regulated medical products - Strategic and analytical thinker with experience developing and implementing business-to-business marketing plans - Experience developing and implementing internal communications strategies and tactics, including management of intranet-based communications for company employees; - Extensive experience identifying, selecting, and managing internal and external support resources and agencies (advertising and PR agencies, freelance writers, editors, designers, web programmers) - Outstanding written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to write and edit materials for broad distribution; demonstrated creativity with the ability to translate complex concepts into simple written or graphical representations - Experience developing and implementing successful digital marketing and communications strategies, including external and internal websites/intranet resources, social networking, etc - Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and initiatives; exceptional project management and multi-tasking capabilities; ability to work with autonomy and flexibility - High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; basic knowledge/understanding of current software platforms for managing digital and printed communications, including Adobe CS4 to facilitate management of internal and external support resources.
