Summary Description: This position plays a key role at Meridian as the business owner for the Foodborne products (e.g. e coli and campylobacter), the fastest growing product line at Meridian. This position entails global product leadership and U.S P&L responsibility, identifying and driving new product development, developing and executing the marketing plans, and addressing day-to-day needs for the assigned product lines.
General Duties: 1. Lead the Foodborne product portfolio: a) Analyze market and customers to provide accurate forecasts of all products. b) Manage cross functional development teams as part of product launch process. c) Support the building and maintaining key opinion leaders that will impact development and growth of product line(s). d) Manage product promotions/promotional programs to internal & external customers.
2. Leadership: a) Demonstrate ownership of product line by leading cross functional teams regarding: * resolution of on-going product issues related to performance and inventory. * communication with global counterparts. * specific product presentations when required (trade shows, local meetings, etc.) b) Assist in the coordination of product development, design, and production by managing the product design and transfer process as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure. c) Communicate pertinent information to the appropriate parties including administration, sales, distributor partners, subsidiaries, technical support, R&D, etc. d) Actively participate in the resolution of customer conflicts/issues through constant communication with field sales, tech support, and end users. e) Build strong relationships with key customers, thought leaders, and KOLs through active communication and field travel.
3. Strategy: a) Work with Director to develop product-specific marketing plans that include positioning, advertising, promotion, pricing and competitive analysis. b) Coordinate and/or participate in current product assessments with sales force, end-user focus groups, and KOL discussions. c) Work with program management to identify and ensure product improvements and maximum product life. d) Ensure appropriate input into strategic business plan with program management, setting market share and profitability objectives. e) Assist in developing strategic plans for key accounts as well as core business strategy with sales management. f) Execute the overall Strategic Plan for the assigned product line(s) including product promotions for customers, distributor partners and Meridian sales personnel. g) Manage pricing guidelines and evaluate pricing trends.
4. Tactics and Execution: a) Responsible for maintaining all routine aspects of the product line, including: * forecasting * backorder management * scrap management * customer resolution * etc. b) Work with Tech Support to establish objectives for product education and sales programs as well as methods to measure effectiveness. c) Participate regularly in presenting sales programs and regional training sessions. d) Creation of product collateral and sales tools. e) Work with the Sales Department to coordinate product promotions. For the products or areas being promoted, develop strategies and tactics to incentivize the customers in conjunction with the Sales Departments incentive plan for the sales force. f) Coordinate and participate in appropriate trade shows.
5. Competition: a) Monitor competitive information and trends in the marketplace via information from the sales force, customer interaction, market research, KOLs, etc. b) Strategically analyze and thoroughly understand competitive strategies and tactics to develop and communicate effective counter attack plans for specific product lines to ensure success. c) Protect current customer base by creating competitive barriers to ensure maximized success of product launch strategy. Requirements Qualifications Required: 1. Education or specific courses: a) Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or related field OR degree in related scientific discipline with appropriate experience. MBA preferred.
2. 3. Experience: a) Developing and conducting successful presentations to all levels of audiences. b) Minimum 4+ years of experience in Marketing, preferably in the Healthcare industry and with an additional 2 years of sales experience. c) Must have cross functional team experience, preferably in a leadership role. d) Sales experience in the healthcare industry and/or new product launches a plus.
