We are seeking a seasoned executive and brand management visionary who will drive Ironwood's brand management initiatives and process to the highest level possible. This individual must be a creative, hands-on executive with proven leadership skills. The successful candidate will establish, evolve, and lead the implementation of innovative, science-based marketing and communication strategies, and oversee all strategic and tactical elements of the brand and related marketing programs. This individual will also provide commercial insights into lifecycle management and early stage pipeline decisions, as well as drive target product profile. This position reports to the chief commercial officer (CCO).
Responsibilities - Represent the CCO in the preparation of key pipeline decisions including the target product profile (TPP);
- Establish and evolve innovative models for enhancing customer value, promoting dialogue between and among key customers, and ensuring the overall effectiveness and efficiency of customer communications;
- Oversee brand director's activities with input into the objectives and activities of other functions such as consumer marketing, professional marketing, insights and analytics, and information networks/channels;
- Identify unmet needs and underserved market segments for potential growth opportunities;
- Define product positioning and core message;
- Define launch strategy and manage alignment with co-promote partner with regard to key investments;
- Oversee condition awareness and key opinion leader (KOL) mobilization;
- Oversee product launch strategy and activity;
- Participate in early pipeline decisions and define collaboratively the TPP with CCO, CMO, and head of R&D;
- Plan and manage Ironwood's portfolio of pipeline and in-line products throughout life cycle and position the company to maximize brand value from portfolio;
- Develop and execute a cost effective multi-channel strategy targeting all key stakeholders (consumer and professional, government and private payer;
- Along with director of analytics, develop and maintain a system to track, learn, and evolve marketing messages and channels;
- Work with analytics to develop a forecast and be accountable for the product P&L;
- Be accountable for executive level interface with co-promote partner;
- Lead the creation and execution of jointly agreed upon strategic and tactical marketing plans, product messaging alignment, and forecasting. Requirements - 10+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience;
- Proven experience leading strategic brand management initiatives within the pharmaceutical or biotech industries;
- Extensive experience managing multiple brands and/or franchises;
- Proven management experience with supervisory responsibilities including experience with budgeting process, strategic and tactical planning, performance management, coaching and project management;
- A passion for brand management and customer service; a drive for excellence is paramount;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in addition to excellent interpersonal and presentation skills;
- B.A./B.S. degree required; advance degree preferred.
