Reporting to the Director of Sales Planning, this position will work with Corporate Accounts Payor and Reimbursement Organization (CAPRO) sales management to identify account-specific trends in the Managed Care, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement environment and utilize this information to optimize access for the Amgen portfolio. Specifically the position will:
- Working with the CAPRO sales management team, create a customer segmentation plan for all targeted CAPRO accounts based on level of control, size of account and ability to influence provider use of Amgen's products. - Use understanding of the payor landscape and control, and apply knowledge to build national map of managed care penetration and control at the MSA level. - Work with the National Accounts, Trade and Specialty account management teams to align contracted customers and increase our understanding of channels and sales distribution. - Quantify #8220;control#8221; as it pertains to a health plan's ability to influence the usage of Amgen's products. The definition will consider enrollment mix (ASO vs. risk), site of administration (clinic vs retail), benefit coverage (medical vs. retail), as well as various utilization management techniques (prior authorizations, step edits, NDC blocks, etc.). - Based on agreed upon metrics for control, build customer portfolios that can be used to segment the payor market. - Review medical coverage policies and formulary placement of Amgen's and competitor's products to build coverage forecasting models for possible future coverage of Amgen's pipeline products. - Include highlights of benefit consulting organization's opinions - Include highlights of major employer (coalition) opinions - Monitor and manage activities related to reimbursement, coverage, utilization management and coding of competitor products in the commercial and Medicare Part D environments including: - Changes in the basis of reimbursement - Changes in distribution channels - Changes in activity as it relates to private payors - Provide updates, including impact of changes, to CAPRO leadership Requirements - Bachelors degree required. - 6+ years pharmaceutical/biotech experience in sales or marketing
Preferred Qualifications - MBA strongly preferred. - 2+ years of experience working in a reimbursement specialty (managed markets account management, payor marketing, experience in a health plan, or in a private payor research company: Zitter, Health Strategies, HIRC, AIS or similar). - Ability to synthesize multiple qualitative and quantitative data sets through a systematic process. - Experience with product pricing, market segmentation, and market research - Demonstrated competency in synthesizing clinical data into qualitative and quantitative presentations. - Demonstrated knowledge of contracting and pricing in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. - Knowledge and understanding of pharmacoeconomic, clinical and outcomes studies and methodologies, especially claims analysis for biotechnology products. - Ability to be successful in a matrix oriented organization and a strong team member of cross-functional teams. - Strong project management experience particularly in cross-functional project management. - Strong communication skills with the ability to write clearly and effectively present ideas. Able to clearly present quantitative and qualitative information; listens well.
