Basic Function and Scope of the Position:This position is responsible for the operations of Illumina's Applications and Instrument laboratory in the Customer Solutions department.Tasks and Responsibilities:Manage the inventory, purchasing and maintenance of the Applications and Instrument laboratories.Coordinate scheduled use of laboratory between Product Support, Logistics, and Commercial Training groups.Develop and conduct technical demonstrations for new and potential customers.Design and perform pilot studies for customers evaluating company technology or to support troubleshooting investigations, and develop data for Marketing and Sales use.Support validation activities of instrument control software in the laboratory setting Support product development through alpha and system integration testing of new application protocolsQualifications:Education and Experience:MS/PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Genetics preferred or BS + 3 laboratory experience required,3 years biotech/pharma experience preferred in a similar role,Experience with experimental design,Demonstrated written and verbal communication and presentation skills,Outstanding interpersonal skills,Prior experience with DNA sequencing and microarray technologies preferred,Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service,Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
