Job Description:

The Sr. Manager/Manager Communications, Global Diagnostics will pro-actively manage assigned areas of global communications through demonstrated deep experience, hands-on development and execution of creative marketing communications, media relations, and event planning, and build effective relationships with advocates and KOLs, preferably in the Pharma/biotech sector. A significant component of this strong communicator and influencer's work comes in aligning global communications with regional Diagnostics and Novartis Group communication strategy and planning, and the ability to drive messaging and news for internal audiences. Responsibilities include:

* Increase positive awareness of Novartis Diagnostics and its mission.

* Develop and execute communication plans and messaging in-line with corporate strategic goals and desired market position for current and future product offerings.

* Disseminate information to relevant public (marketable customers, regulators, shareholders) through appropriate use of the media, internet, tradeshows, scientific events and other channels.

* Ensure consistency of Novartis brand and market position in external communications and maintain necessary communication-control processes.

* Participate in the development and writing of press releases, marketing collateral, backgrounders, and other materials as needed.

* Support development of regional plans and events, including press releases, conferences, speeches, interviews, and special programs.

* Establish and manage relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in the diagnostics industry and regulatory bodies, universities and healthcare associations

* Collaborate in development of internal communication strategy, along with the HR group, and plan and implement effective communication of key internal messages
Minimum Requirements:

* University degree required. Emphasis in liberal studies, English, communications or journalism preferred

* Advanced degree in business, bioscience or related field desirable

* Extensive experience (7-10 years) in communications positions, including high-level involvement in media and Key Opinion Leader relations

* Significant experience in diagnostics and/or pharmaceutical industry communications posi-tions and excellent understanding of communication concerns regarding public, media, shareholder and employee relations

* Experience in building and strengthening culture through effective communication channels

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Excellent persuasive ability
