Position Objective: To plan, schedule and coordinate the scheduling process for the manufacture of industrial or commercial products through the production cycle.
Essential Functions: Assist in creating the master production schedule to establish 1) the production sequence for manufacturing processes, (ie: formulation, preparation, production, assembly, etc.) and 2) the production lead time in order to meet shipping dates determined by demand management information. May independently create the master schedule for a part of the production process or all of a more straightforward process.
Assist in planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Keep all relevant personnel apprised of the status of assigned projects.
Assist Manufacturing, Customer Service, Marketing, Quality Control and other departments in problem solving and expediting issues that could delay or alter schedules.
Analyze and report on production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tools and human resource requirements. Prepare production reports, lists of required tools, materials and equipment, and purchase orders to obtain materials. Create and maintain data for MRP and related data management systems. Inform the appropriate personnel of delay or shortages that could impact production. May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Nature and Scope: This position interacts with all levels of internal customers and external vendors. That interaction requires excellent oral communication skills and organization skills. Effectiveness in this role also requires functional knowledge of the manufacturing process and the production planning support needed by customers in meeting their obligations. The incumbent works on problems of moderate scope and moderate to high complexity requiring analysis of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined procedures. The incumbent normally receives minimal instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments.
Contacts: Has contact with equivalent levels of company employees and external customers.
Working Conditions: Works in a lab and/or warehouse environment. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 40 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. May intermittently sit at desk for a long period of time to answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional local travel may be required.
