Job Description: 



Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Associate Director, Public Relations to join our Public Affairs Department located at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT.
As an Associate Director, Public Relations -- Cardiovascular & Metabolics you will develop and implement brand and disease awareness communication/ PR programs that support the business objectives of branded pharmaceutical products specific to our cardiovascular and metabolics therapeutic areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and manage the successful implementation and execution of brand communications and PR programs to achieve defined plan objectives in support of our cardiovascular and metabolics therapeutic area.  Integrate and build strong relationships with brand teams, provide communications counsel, and maintain responsibility for overall brand communications and PR programs Build open and collaborative relationships with PR counterparts in Germany, as well as strong relationships with colleagues in medical, legal, and regulatory departments Conduct effective media relations in support of overall PR plan and brand objectives Effectively develop, implement, and manage grass-roots/ patient directed campaigns as appropriate to support brand objectives Select agencies in cooperation with marketing and manage agencies of record as an extension of the in-house communications team to maximize performance, results, and ROI Manage PR budget and resources in cooperation with marketing, while tracking progress as they relate to defined objectives and reporting results Remain knowledgeable of marketplace and external forces that impact brand Conduct effective issues preparedness and management to minimize business interruptions and protect the reputations of the company and the brands by identifying and planning for issues, as well as managing the issues process, team, and resources involved when issues arise Coordinate with Internal and Sales Communications to Ensure effective employee communications.

Requirements



Minimum of a Bachelors degree and at least 5 years PR/communicatsions strategy experience required; 8+ years preferred.



Knowledge of and/or experience in cardiovascular and/or metabolic diseases preferred
Experience in developing and implementing brand communications and PR plans
Strong project and event management skills
Exceptional verbal and written skills
Ability to make a compelling case for public relations; to engender support for programming, decisions and resourcing
Proven ability to build relationships and influence outcomes in matrix environment
Strong presentation skills
Experience cultivating and building relationships with the media
Crisis/issue management background
Team player
